“Dead Flowers”

Here is my absolute favorite Rolling Stones song (and one of my general all-time favorites as well), “Dead Flowers” off of the seminal 1971 album Sticky Fingers.

It’s a lovely dark & melancholy White-Boy-British-Country tune that I can really related to in some weird ways.

The famous Andy Warhol (also the genius behind the iconic lips/tongue logo shown above) design of Sticky Fingers LP has a a man in a pair of jeans with an actual functioning brass zipper.  In some markets where it was deemed inappropriate, it was replaced with a much more banal cover showing a can of “Fowler’s Treacle” (molasses for us Yanks), with some severed fingers…
